Relay

Coming online is expensive, and more so for refugees escaping civil war at home. Relay uses peer-to-peer technology to give them a cheaper way to stay in touch.

Relay on two phones. The feed, with a Go offline button, shows Mirriam Kur’s news post about a football match between Swaleh FC and Mohammed FC with a 00:53 audio clip, Kujien Nyak’s support video “How does Refunite search for your missing family/friend?” and a Family Tracing success story. Behind it, onboarding explains using Relay without an internet connection.

Results

By early 2019 we had 1,500 users and retention of about 50%, with healthy referrals as Relay launched in new places.
